General Purpose leather work gloves are normally made from the flank or side of sheep, cow or goat skin. The rump being reserved for the highest quality gloves. The outside or grainside provides a smooth finish and the inside or split, a suede type finish. The split, or what is left after the removal of the grainside, offers good abrasion resistance directly proportionate to its thickness.
